- any other women's health issue
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist at Jean Hailes. You may choose to see a psychologist yourself or your doctor or another health professional may suggest you see a psychologist. There are many reasons to see a psychologist including for:
- grief & loss
- abuse (including past and current abuse)
- relationship problems
- problems with family or friends
- coping with illness or disease
You may only need a few counselling sessions depending on your reasons for seeking help. Medicare rebates are available for up to 10 visits per year to see a psychologist. To receive this rebate your GP will need to fill out a Mental Health Plan.
The Jean Hailes Medical Centres have specialist physiotherapy appointments for women who have incontinence and/or pelvic pain. Women are usually recommended to see the physiotherapist by a doctor, however you do not necessarily need a referral.
If you are worried about incontinence or pelvic problems please seek advice and support as there are many things you can do to help with these issues.
Some women are interested in seeking the advice of a naturopath to improve and manage their health and wellbeing. Natural therapies may be helpful for many health issues.
