New national survey to improve support for women facing medically induced menopause

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health has partnered with Inherited Cancers Australia to ensure that women experiencing medically induced menopause are not overlooked in national health conversations.

Together, we have launched a national survey to better understand the experiences and needs of women affected by this condition. The insights gathered will help shape new resources and support strategies tailored to their unique challenges.

We invite you to take part in this short, anonymous survey if you:

  • have experienced or are experiencing medically induced menopause, or
  • are seeking information about medically induced menopause because it may affect you in the future.

The survey takes just 5 to 10 minutes to complete and closes 23 February 2025. Take the survey now.

Why this matters

Medically induced menopause can be caused by:

  • chemotherapy
  • radiation therapy to the pelvic area
  • surgical removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy)
  • medical menopause where hormone production is shut down with medicine, such as Lupron or Zoladex.

Women facing medically induced menopause often experience symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood changes. They may also face increased long-term health risks, including osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.
