Jean Hailes, with the support of Thorne Harbour Health, commissioned Trezona Consulting Group to undertake qualitative consultations with lesbian, bisexual and queer (LBQ) women, and trans, gender diverse and non-binary (TGDNB) people presumed female at birth, to better understand their experiences and perspectives regarding sexual and reproductive health. This report is part of a series from the 2023 National Women's Health Survey (NWHS).
The project identified key themes, including:
- barriers to healthcare access, for example, experiences of discrimination and lack of culturally safe services
- lack of relevant reproductive health information for LGBTIQA+ communities
- considerations about the proposed introduction of reproductive leave, for example, concerns that this type of leave could lead to increases in discrimination for already marginalised communities.
